Messaging apps usually do not require any “paid” premium subscriptions to access their full features, but it seems that those in charge of the Telegram application want to get out of this tunnel, as it is reported that Telegram’s new-coming services and features will need Premium Subscription” to take advantage of.
According to a report by Android Police, citing the Telegram beta channel, new instructions have been discovered embedded within the upcoming beta version of the app indicating that there are fresh features that require premium paid subscriptions.
We are all used to benefiting 100% free from all the features of chat applications, and this does not apply to Telegram only but also to other messaging applications such as Facebook, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
However, when considering business-focused messaging platforms like Slack, we will find that they offer many paid plans, but the basic features are completely free.
Who knows if Telegram’s future premium features will be worth paying for, but this should not be a concern for most users, as it is impossible to impose fees on the basic features most people lean on.
In short, you do not have to worry if you would rather not pay for these new features, as we have gleaned from the Android Police report that the core services will still be completely free.
What will Telegram offer in exchange for premium subscriptions?
Telegram refrained from saying anything officially yet, but based on the opinions of some users who got the 8.7.2 beta version, it appears that there are emojis for reactions that only subscribers can use.
When you summon the panel to add a reaction, you will see a new star icon on the right side. When you tap it, a page will pop up showing you six of the new icons: a clown face, fire, vomiting face, shocked face, thumbs down, and a heart. At the bottom of the page, there is a text reading “Unlock additional reactions by subscribing to Telegram Premium”. Under that, you will find the blue buy button.
